Claire Gillman
Claire Gillman is an experienced journalist, writer and broadcaster. She was the editor of Kindred Spirit magazine; she contributes to many leading women’s magazines and has written on health and parenting for The Times and other national newspapers. In the past, she was the editor of a number of consumer and specialist women’s magazine titles including Health & Fitness magazine and Girl About Town.
Claire’s first book Inside the Parachute Regiment (Bloomsbury) was followed by 2 further fitness titles. She has written a number of adult health and parenting titles including The Best of Boys: Helping Your Sons through their Teenage Years, Getting Your Kids Active: How to Have Active Healthy Kids and We are the Sandwich Generation: Keeping Everyone Happy. Claire has also written a couple of pregnancy/baby care titles for Cico Books A Green Guide to Bringing up Your Baby (2009) and A Green Guide to Pregnancy (2010).
Claire has run writers’ workshops and has penned three titles for aspiring writers in the Hodder Teach Yourself series How to Write Fantastic Non-Fiction (2011) How to Make Money from Freelance Writing ( 2012) and How Not to Get Published ( 2013) in which Claire examines the common pitfalls which authors make in their submissions and offers solutions based on her own experiences as a published author and a literary consultant.
Claire has recently helped Nick Marr with his book How to Run a Successful Charity (Hodder, 2013) a practical guide for anyone involved in setting up or running a charity be it as a volunteer or a charity trustee.
In addition, she has written eight children’s books, most under the pen-name of Rory Storm. She has also ghosted/contributed to and edited a selection of book titles for various publishers.
Claire’s book The Healing Therapies Bible profiles 70 alternative healing therapies – many of which she experienced during the course of her research.
